PITT A COQS
Museum where you can discover the tradition of cockfighting and an authentic pitt à coq or cockfight from January to July.
A stopover for those interested in traditional Guadeloupe. Ms. Bélair is the only person on the island who is doing her utmost to raise awareness of this practice, which her father had already been practicing for some sixty years. It's a practice that's very much decried today, for obvious reasons, given animal welfare issues.
She has set up a small museum explaining the tradition of cockfighting. In an authentic, rustic cockpit (where fights regularly take place), you'll witness a demonstration of the natural aggressiveness of roosters, and get all the explanations you need to better understand a tradition that's still very much alive. You'll be amazed at the fervor generated by these fights. Sensitive souls abstain!
