VALOMBREUSE BOTANICAL GARDEN
Garden with over 500 species of tropical flowers and plants from all over the world, can be visited on a miniature train.
Well integrated into the shady valleys, this large floral park was created in 1990 by an enthusiast, Madame Magguy Chaulet. Following the destruction of her plantation by Hurricane Hugo in 1989, she decided to create the island's first floral park, showcasing the finest plants. This extraordinary garden is home to a profusion of plants that will delight nature lovers, with over 1,000 species of tropical flowers and plants from the four corners of the globe. The visit can be self-guided with a map given to you at reception, or you can take the 100% electric Valombreuse Express train (free) from the garden entrance. Allow at least 1h30 for the visit, under tall trees from which burst out brightly colored tropical plants, including balisiers, pink, red and white alpinias, heliconias, anthuriums, white porcelain roses... You'll discover plants with surprising names ("men's character"... and women whose flower color changes during the day, Chinese hats...). Watch the hummingbirds that come to drink the nectar from the flowers. The Valombreuse garden is also home to an extraordinary array of fauna, and in particular bird species such as Caribbean flamingos and red Ibis! At the heart of the garden is a play area for children. The gift store is located at the end of the tour. The on-site restaurant is accessible without entering the garden.
