ECOMUSEUM CREOLE ART
Ecomuseum with a conservatory of medicinal, aromatic and culinary plants, and areas devoted to Caribbean civilization.
A few kilometers from the town, the Creole Art Ecomuseum has become a must-see over the years. The site stands out thanks to a conservatory of medicinal, aromatic and culinary plants that allows visitors to discover their traditional uses. It is also a large open-air museum well structured with its different spaces: The Caribbean civilization which evokes the history of the archipelago (discovery of the island by Christopher Columbus, from the very first inhabitants to the various cultures that have shaped the Guadeloupe of today); The development of its 32 communes presented individually. The designer of the site has retraced his childhood in this place.
Not to be missed: the collection of An Tan Lontan toys (toys from the past) and the reproduction of a "lolo" (small local grocery store) where people used to come to do their shopping, play dominoes and where all the life of the neighborhood was told.
An excellent homemade chocolate is offered at the beginning of the visit. Also on the spot, a store (selling plants, local cocoa powder, herbal teas, cinnamon, nutmeg, jewelry...), a table d'hôtes that allows you to combine a visit with local gastronomy, prepared from the products of the garden of course (on reservation) and an accommodation offer. The ecomuseum offers, in its private spaces, a villa nestled in the heart of a large exotic garden, which has 2 charming apartments with kitchen and terrace for your vacations. The accommodation on the first floor can accommodate 2 people, the one upstairs can accommodate 2 to 4 people.
