THE CHAMEAU
The highest morne, rising to 309 meters, offers beautiful views and a hiking trail to Crawen beach.
The mount of Le Chameau, the highest mornes of the island, requires 1 hours 30 minutes of ascent despite its 309 metres. A fortified lookout, overlooking the entire archipelago as far as the eye can see, Le Chameau guaranteed the protection of Les Saintes against the English of Dominica. For hiking, you have to pass through Pain de Sucre road, then via the Prés Cassin way which leads to the top of Le Chameau, from which the splendid view extends over Terre-de-Haut and its coves, the cliffs of Terre-de-Bas, Dominica, Désirade, Marie-Galante and even Soufrière in clear weather. The west of the harbour also offers enchanting sites that must be discovered on foot. After the summit, it is possible to continue this hike through a forest path that leads to the road leading to the beach of Crawen.
