THE THRUSH HOUSE
home offering guided tours of the coffee plantation, walks around the estate and the botanical garden.
At the end of the small, winding and steep road that may seem long, you reach the Domaine de la Grivelière. Once an important coffee plantation, this former 18th century dwelling, classified as a historic monument, used to produce coffee. It still produces coffee today. Thanks to a restoration program, it has been restored to its former glory. On the program, guided tours (or not according to your desire) of the coffee plantation, walks in the estate and the small botanical garden. You will also be able to discover period furniture and objects as well as the know-how around coffee and cocoa, animated by the association Verte Vallée, and passionate guides. This association was created in 1994 in order to protect the Grande-Rivière valley and the cultural and natural heritage of the commune of Vieux-habitants. Finally, you visit the shop, which offers a wide choice of local products (punches, coffee liqueurs, cocoa, chocolate) as well as arts and crafts (glass objects). You can end the visit by accessing the Paradise River, which is only 200 m after the estate.
Several formulas are proposed, from the simple self-guided tour to the complete formula which includes the guided tour and lunch at the table d'hôtes. Guided tours take place every hour. The table d'hôtes offers a daily menu in several formulas. The team perpetuates the tradition of using locally produced food. Bread is also made on the premises.
