Museum tracing the history of coffee, from its arrival in the West Indies to the production and processing of coffee beans.

Chaulet has been planting coffee since 1860 and roasting it for almost a century. Its coffee is sold throughout the archipelago. This 100% Arabica, recognizable by its uniform green or yellow packet, is the product of a fascinating agricultural history, to which the Chaulet family is closely attached. Guadeloupe coffee comes from the first coffee trees to arrive from the Americas in 1721. It is reputed to be one of the finest coffees in the world, and is used as a "bonifieur" to improve other coffees.

A visit to the completely self-contained museum takes you back in time, tracing the plant's origins across five continents, from its first settlements in the West Indies to the production and transformation of the coffee bean into the bitter beverage so appreciated the world over. A veritable epic from 1721 onwards, tracing production techniques from that era right up to the present day. From harvesting to roasting, you'll discover a fully restored candy factory, where all the necessary operations are described. There's also a store where you can discover the different Café Chaulet products.

In September 2022, during the passage of storm Fiona, the Grande Rivière burst its banks and completely flooded the facilities. The museum, which has since been undergoing renovations, also suffered the consequences of Hurricane Tammy in October 2023, which destroyed a building. Today, this emblematic family museum of the Guadeloupe archipelago is partially open.
