THE OLD TOWN
The village of Montsalvy boasts the remains of an abbey, a church, a castle, narrow streets and beautiful houses.
A small town with character, Montsalvy traces its origins back to the 11th century, when the monk Gausbert founded a church, monastery and hospice. The village grew up around him, with its fine built heritage: the remains of the abbey, the church, the castle and its 15th-century tower (now a retirement home). The main street has retained its medieval porches at each end. Take a stroll along the narrow streets, and you'll be able to admire beautiful houses such as the one with the watchtower or the weaver's house. A walk full of surprises...
