Whether it's egg-laying or the emergence of babies, watching sea turtles is a magical moment to see in your life.
The 3 species to watch in French Guiana are the olive ridley (the smallest, 45 kg), the green turtle and the famous leatherback (the largest, up to 2.2 m long and 700 kg). Watching them is a magical experience, lasting from April to October, with the adult turtles laying their eggs, followed a few weeks later by the emergence of the babies (around a hundred per nest) seeking their way to the ocean. Rémire, Montabo and Hattes beach in Awala are major nesting sites. Please be respectful.
