CHESTNUT HOUSE
Self-guided or guided discovery walk along the shady paths on the banks of the Haut-Célé river
In this corner of the Cantal, the chestnut is the very emblem of the region. You'll visit the Maison de la Châtaigne, Colette Castanier's home, with a genuine 1950s grocery store (a nostalgic gem!), the oven, the sécadou (a typical little building where chestnuts were dehydrated), the underground cellars... as well as the gardens, the nursery, the animals... You'll learn about the current state of chestnut cultivation.
Tip. Self-guided or guided discovery walks (booking required) along the shady paths on the banks of the Haut-Célé (classified PDIPR).
