SAINT-PIERRE MARKET
At the foot of Mount Pelée, Saint-Pierre unfurls its authentic village, still marked by history, towards a majestic bay.
It is one of the most beautiful and authentic markets of Martinique. Rebuilt in 1923, this large iron hall was inspired by the Baltard pavilions. Its design favors good ventilation, preventing odors from stagnating. Highly colorful, with its stalls of fruits, vegetables, spices but also its craftsmen, it is famous for its delicious macadam, a local specialty made of rice, cod and tomatoes, a recipe of which only the famous Marie-Claire, owner of the small food shop on the first floor of the covered market, has the secret.
