You don't need an excuse to go to Cilaos, but going there during the Lentil Festival is a plus: for five days, all the restaurants must decorate their cuisine with lentils, since these are part of the local specialities. The days are also animated with stands of local artisans and shows, ideal for discovering the city centre. The atmosphere is very good and the bus from Saint-Louis is even free for the occasion! Traffic jams to be expected however, you won't be the only ones on this famous road with four hundred bends.
