For three days, the people of Reunion gather to pray and pay homage to Our Lady of La Salette.

Although more a religious gathering than a festival, the event is nonetheless popular with Reunionnese from all over the island, who gather for three days to pray, climb the steps of the chapel and pay homage to Notre-Dame de la Salette, who is said to have spared Saint-Leusiens from plague and cholera epidemics in the ^19th century. The evenings are enlivened by concerts by the most popular local artists, and the silence of the day is replaced by frenzied dancing, laughter and applause.
