FÊTE DE LA SALETTE
Go there and contact
For three days, the people of Reunion gather to pray and pay homage to Our Lady of La Salette.
Although more a religious gathering than a festival, the event is nonetheless popular with Reunionnese from all over the island, who gather for three days to pray, climb the steps of the chapel and pay homage to Notre-Dame de la Salette, who is said to have spared Saint-Leusiens from plague and cholera epidemics in the 19th century. The evenings are enlivened by concerts by the most popular local artists, and the silence of the day is replaced by frenzied dancing, laughter and applause.
