The salt
In 1930, the Mahatma Gandhi began in reaction to a law British Empire aimed at founding a tax salt, 386 miles sound ashram surroundings of Ahmedabad to the edge of the Indian Ocean Dandi. The crowd that accompanies it grew up mirror with the course. The villagers, journalists, intellectuals adopt the cause. Representative of the actions "civil disobedience" tear off with the English the independence of India, was very popularized through the media. On arrival, symbolically Gandhi will pick a handful of salt. It will be thrown, others, in prison but the Indians will get, this day, the right to collect salt themselves.
This morning, we visit the museum of the Salt exhibit retracing this epic. The visit includes also the discovery of the perfectly functional salines and that produce several tons of salt a year.
The paludiers await us for a demonstration. The site does not produce really salt but aims to the preservation of the work tools and know-how acquired during a century. Harvested salt is in bags piled up in a hangar but (can not be) is not marketed.
"Told me to grow salt. I grow salt!" tells me with many is in the voice, one of the salt. Her father, already, pushed salt.
It seems that it would be more showcasing, for everyone, really function salines, to extract salt and sell it especially as it is, it is very good. It is true that the role is included and objectives museum but it is true that one wonders of the non marketing the finished product.
Perhaps time had just organised, following the example of Gandhi, a new promenade salt" pointe Salt Saint-Denis ask for "peacefully" marketing salt Bourbon.
