Created in 1997, this colourful carnival honours King Dodo, represented by a huge statue carefully made by the inhabitants. The floats parade through the streets of the city to converge on the beach of Brisants or Black Rocks where the king will be burned at sunset before a great final fireworks display. Everyone parties in the street from 2pm until late at night. Be prepared, the event brings together more than 15,000 people every year: no question of driving into the city centre at the last minute.
