This must-see stop on the Route de l'Est is well worth a few minutes' detour. The 152-meter-long suspension bridge spanning the Rivière de l'Est was the longest in the world when it was delivered in 1894. Classified as a historical monument in 2018, it has been undergoing major restoration work since 2021, in order to make it once again (and exclusively) accessible to pedestrians. The suspension bridge, also known as the "Pont des Anglais", reopened at the end of 2023.

La circulation des piétons est interdite sur le pont suspendu depuis mai 2016 et jusqu'à nouvel ordre en raison de la vétusté du tablier. Le site reste malgré tout très intéressant et vaut la peine que l'on y consacre un peu de son temps.
a beautiful view of the river when it is full.
buildings sell vanilla, spices and peppers at the entrance of bridge. they are very friendly and can make you just a little higher visit their exploitation of vanilla, and letchis combawa!
