FÊTE DU CHOUCHOU
The chouchou, better known in metropolitan France under the name of "christophine ", is one of the island's essential vegetables. There is nothing to throw in the chouchou, neither its leaves that we eat in brèdes, nor its roots that we eat in massalé, nor its flesh that we gratine. Artists even weave its liana to make objects out of "chouchou straw". It is therefore normal to celebrate it: it is in the spotlight during 3 days of festivities in Salazie. It's an opportunity for producers to show all the advantages of this emblematic circus vegetable.
