This 11th and 16th century castle was built on a high promontory overlooking the Goul valley, on the borders of Upper Auvergne and Rouergue. A wing was added in the 18th century. There are two high square keeps linked by a large main building, with an exceptional carved Renaissance facade representing Messilhac. It was, at the end of the 16th century, the seat of the bailiff of the Haute-Auvergne. Film buffs will recognize it as the setting for Bertrand Tavernier's film The Princess of Montpensier with Lambert Wilson. Beautiful building.
