ST. PETER'S CATHEDRAL
Saint-Flour's Cathedral Saint-Pierre has undergone several alterations and boasts a wealth of liturgical furnishings.
The diocese of Saint-Flour was created in 1317. The cathedral dates from the 15th century and is a major example of Gothic art in the Cantal region. Its two large grey stone towers sometimes resemble a fortress at the tip of the town's promontory. The building has been altered several times, notably after the French Revolution, when it was badly damaged. Visitors will discover a wealth of furnishings, including the Black Christ, a masterpiece of Romanesque art. The liturgical furnishings, replaced in 2014, are by the goldsmith Goudji.
