For many years, the San Pedro de Macorís region has been the focus of anthropologists' search for vestiges of pre-Columbian history. The museum, created primarily for students of the Universidad Central del Este (Central University of the East), has been exhibiting the results of this research since 1983, in three separate collections. It will be of interest to fans of Taino civilization, but others will have to do without the visit.
