OLIMPO
The thirty rooms with air-conditioning, flat-screen satellite TV and private bathrooms lack charm, but the address, right next to the guaguas stop for Santo Domingo, is practical. What's more, the welcome is charming. There's also a swimming pool, a restaurant serving Dominican specialties, private parking (for a fee) and a good Internet connection. The Olimpo will do for a night's stopover in La Romana, especially as the reception - boldly decorated in a Greek theme - is open at all hours of the day and night.
