For those curious about the Trujillo era, the dictator's country house, once lined inside with mahogany (hence the name "mahogany house"), contains an important collection of objects that once belonged to him. It can be found a few kilometers from the town, at the end of a stony track that should be restored. To get there, you'll have to head towards La Toma and turn left at the aqueduct. Not a priority visit on your trip, but one that can be organized while exploring the surrounding area.
