During the patronal feasts of Azua de Compostela, religious celebrations, fairs, music, dances and alcohol are part of the program.
Azua de Compostela's patron saint's day features fairs, music, dancing and alcohol in honor of Nuestra Señora de los Remedios, the town's patron saint. There's plenty of entertainment: donkey races, Baile de los Enmascarados (also known as the "ribbon dance", with the dancers' eyes hidden by a ribbon) and a cavalcade of "devils" through the streets. Religious celebrations are also held. Here, as in Baní in November and throughout the country during Semana Santa, temperatures rise rapidly!
