TEMPLO SANTO DOMINGO
Church of baroque-métis style founded in 1590, one of the old temples of La Paz, with 3 naves and chapel with coffered ceiling
This baroque-medieval style church was founded in 1590 and designed in 1609 by Francisco Jiménez de Sigüenza. It was part of a convent of Roman Catholic worship, under the patronage of Santa Domingo. It is one of the oldest temples in the city. Its facade dates from 1760 and is recognizable for its decorations representing the fauna and flora of the subtropical regions (papaya, parrots, flowers). The building has three naves and a private chapel with a coffered ceiling that was remodeled in the 19th century in a neoclassical style.
