PUERTA DE LA LUNA
Door of the Moon, monolithic arch in andesite oriented according to the cardinal points, motifs with puma mouths, fish heads
The Moon Gate lies 500 m from Kalasasaya. It is a monolithic andesite arch over 2 m high, oriented according to the points of the compass and featuring interesting reliefs. The motifs are similar to those of the Sun Gate, except that here the zoomorphic engravings depict puma mouths and fish heads. It would appear that it once stood near the cemetery, but was later moved. Often overlooked by visitors, wrongly so, it's well worth a look.
