PUMA PUNKU
Pyramid dating from the classical period of Tiwanaku, with blocks used to consolidate the site and to drain rainwater
Located away from the main site, it is a pyramid with a base of three platforms. It seems that this monument was built at the end of the classical period of Tiwanaku, because the construction techniques are more advanced than those of the other buildings. The 130-ton blocks were joined by metal tenons that weighed 15 kg each and served not only to consolidate the site, but also to drain rainwater. The "Gate of the Puma" has been massively plundered by successive invaders. A must-see.
