INTIKALA
Archaeological site of Intikala, artificial rectangular platform where large rocks are carved in the shape of chairs
About 10 minutes walk from the village, the archaeological site of Intikala, also called the Inca Tribunal, is an artificial rectangular platform where huge rocks are skillfully carved into the shape of chairs. Intikala means "stone of the sun" in Aymara. It is said that originally, these stone structures had carved figures on the central part, some of which were covered with gold and silver. These rich sculptures were stripped and destroyed by the conquistadores. A site of relative interest.
