TREK DES VOLCANS
Day 1: From Sajama, 4x4 to the geysers. Hiking to the Khasiri lagoon (4,850 m altitude, 2 hours 30 minutes walk). You can observe the famous giant coots, water birds nesting in large floating platforms made of algae and grasses. A further 1 hour walk leads to the Sorapata lagoon, at the foot of the Condoriri Grande. Overnight in a bivouac
Day 2: We leave the Sorapata lagoon towards the Condoriri pass. Many viscaches on the way (it is the small squirrel rabbit typical of this Andean region). After 1 hour of walking, we reach the highest point of the trek, at 5,065 m altitude. We then reach the Chiar Khota lagoon, then we go down in the middle of the yaretas to the hot water baths (last portion in 4x4). Allow 6 hours of walking. Night at the inhabitant's house a few steps from the springs, at Don Luis and Doña Teodora's house.
Day 3: From the Huaña Khota lagoon, it is a 4 to 5 hour walk to reach the historic village of Tomarapi. We take the 4x4 back to Sajama (La Paz if you choose to leave from the capital)
