This festival, which attracts 40,000 people every year, is a good example of syncretism between indigenous traditions and the Catholic religion. It is dedicated to fertility: women pray to have children by placing small dolls at the foot of Christ Santa Vera Cruz, farmers pray for their animals to be fertile, and finally, the Pachamama is also prayed to for a good harvest. No big dances here, but rather an intense religious fervour with pilgrimages, masses and processions.
