CAÑONES TOROTORO & EL VERGEL

Torotoro Canyon is one of the wonders of the park. You can get there by car or by walking from the village. Once past the guard post, you continue your way along the bed of an ancient river. You will first reach a natural theatre with a remarkable display of the different layers of stone. A little further on, you will be able to admire, among other things, the biggest marks immortalized in the ground: those of the passage of a sauropod (herbivore). Each of its tracks measures more than a metre! Some carnivore tracks surround it. One can easily read the stories behind each of these tracks. Continuing on his way, we reach a natural stone bridge over the river. Then we reach a recently built watchtower. It is modelled on the American Grand Canyon, and overlooks the canyon on a transparent arched bridge, made of metal (and not glass, like its North American counterpart). The view is incredible and the landscape transports you. We dominate the bottom of the canyon from a height of nearly 300 meters. We continue the visit, walking along the canyon before starting the descent. The path is well marked out, and after going down the 700 or so steps, we finally arrive at Le Vergel! In a paradisiacal setting, the natural waterfalls end their falls in basins. Although the water is relatively cool, you still manage to swim in them. Count about 40 minutes for the ascent.
