This monastery houses several interesting works by painters from the colonial period, including paintings by Manuel Gumiel
This monastery of the Discalced Carmelite order was founded in 1665 by Archbishop Fray Gaspar de Villarroel, with the help of nuns from Lima. He imposed strict rules for the living conditions in the convent. The building, built with a single nave and with several side altars, has a harmonious architecture. It houses several interesting works by painters of the colonial period, including paintings by Manuel Gumiel.
