CATEDRAL BASÍLICA DE NUESTRA SEÑORA DE LA PAZ
This cathedral, located in Plaza 10 de Noviembre, is the most imposing in the city
It is the most imposing cathedral in the city, on the Plaza 10 de Noviembre. The construction of the first building in adobe was finished in 1575. It collapsed and had to be rebuilt. Work began in 1808 and was completed in 1836. The Catalan architect Fray Manuel de Sanahuja also built the cathedral of La Paz. The exterior is neoclassical and the interior is white and golden. You can see paintings and sculptures from the period, by the artist Gaspar de la Cueva (early 17th century) and more recent paintings, from the Republican period, by Juan de la Cruz Tapia. The stained glass windows were donated by a citizens' association on the occasion of the church's 100th anniversary. For the same occasion, Simón Patiño, the Baron of Tin, donated the organ that is still there today. It is possible to go up to the towers to see the big bells and to admire the magnificent panoramic view of the Imperial City. The largest of the bells was presented at the inauguration of the cathedral. The others arrived a little later and one of them has inverted writing. One of the sectors of the cathedral houses a small museum of religious art. In the near future, paintings should appear in the church again (after restoration) and the original organ should be used again. Masses are still held regularly in the cathedral.

Especially you must climb all in top off enormous bells
The effort is worth the reward: a large 360° view on the whole POTOSI
