IGLESIA DE LA MERCED
This church dating from 1629 houses in its choir the oldest frescoes in the city
A little higher than the main square, the jewel of Potosí, remained closed for more than 20 years and completely renovated in 2005. You will notice the admirable Mudéjar roof, Arab art adopted by Spain. The church dates from 1629 and has the oldest frescoes in the city (1555) in its choir. On the first Sunday of October, during the procession, sixteen men are needed to carry the Virgin of La Merced to the main streets of Potosí. The visit to the church ends at the mirador, from where you will have a nice view of the whole city.
