The "House of the Gathered", a beautiful building dating from 1772, was once a community home for the sisters of the Franciscan order, most of whom were indigenous. Its three portals are inspired by colonial churches, such as San Lorenzo. The side pillars are decorated with anthropomorphic figures. The pillars on the first floor show a strong Mudéjar influence (Arab art taken over by the Spaniards). These portals are a very good illustration of thehorror vacui, the fear of emptiness that characterizes Baroque art.
