The Quebrada Palmira is a majestic natural site full of amazing geological formations lined with numerous cacti. Although the site can be explored on foot, we recommend that you explore it on horseback, which is more picturesque. If you go alone, remember to bring a hat and plenty of water, because the sun is strong and there are no shops nearby, since you are in the middle of nature! The Puerta del Diablo is located 5 km west of Tupiza, the Cañón del Inca is located 3 km further.
Puerta del Diablo. You first pass through the Puerta del Diablo which welcomes you. This natural formation is a large and thin rock wall that seems to have been carved by man.
Valle de los Machos. Then discover the Valley of the Machos, also called Valle de los Penes: these phallic formations, also called fairy chimneys, are high stone towers eroded by the winds and rains. You cross the desert valley, surrounded by ochre mountains inhabited by giant cactus and some eagles, like so many sentinels guarding the entrance of the canyons with astonishing shapes.
Cañón del Inca. At the end of this walk with sceneries worthy of the Far West, you reach the Cañón del Inca. The most courageous will climb the canyon to enjoy the panorama. Climbing enthusiasts will be delighted!
It is possible to lengthen the circuit and to head then towards the Quebrada Seca and the Cañón del Duende.
