IGLESIA DE SAN JAVIER
Church dating from 1691, the first Jesuit mission in San Javier with high reliefs, the altar with paintings in high reliefs
Founded in 1691 and designed by Father Schmid, it is the first Jesuit mission in the region. Compared to its sister in Concepción, it is less ornate, but nevertheless has high reliefs, such as this shell that decorates the window of its façade. This ornamental detail reveals the influence of the Rococo style introduced by the Bavarian, Swiss and Bohemian missionaries. The altar features paintings in remarkable high relief. The details of the roof and the earthenware tiles on the floor, which are also in relief, are characteristic of its aesthetics.
