LOS VAGANTES
From Coroico, you can take a one-day tour to discover the local fauna and flora. In the middle of coca fields and crystal clear waterfalls, monkeys and parrots appear as if by magic.
Itinerary: follow the road after the Don Quijote hotel, towards Arapata. After 20 minutes on foot (or 5 minutes by 4x4), you will reach a fork in the road. The main track, to the right, continues towards Arapata. Turn left onto the track that descends. Continue walking for about 30 minutes and you will come to another fork in the road. On the left, the path leads to the old road to Coroico or to the Viejo Molino Hotel. To the right is the path down to Los Vagantes, which is about 400 m above sea level: what a breath of fresh air!
A path runs along the track, take it, you will cross plantations of mandarins, oranges, coffee, etc. After about an hour, you will be in the bed of the torrent. Waterfalls, fresh water, the place is perfect for a picnic.
One option is possible, but for this one we advise you to hire a guide from Coroico (the Don Quijote Hotel organizes this option): follow the stream bed downstream, progressing in the river. The river is not deep. You will have a good chance to see monkeys. At the end of the stream (about 3 hours walk), you will reach a hotel by a bridge. The easiest way is to go down to Coroico by taxi and to meet the driver at the Santa Barbara bridge at the end of the afternoon.
