THE COCA ROUTE
Go there and contact
This 4x4 circuit allows you to make a loop "off the beaten track", between the peaks of the Royal Mountain Range and the Amazon, in the Yungas region. Itinerary half-mountainous half-tropical, with important differences in altitude. In one day, we go from a mineral world to a luxuriant vegetation... by combining the pleasures of the discovery on foot and by all terrain vehicle. And allows to really take advantage of a stay in the Yungas (contact for example an agency of La Paz for a private logistics).
Day 1 : La Paz - Coroico. Departure in the morning from La Paz by 4x4 to Coroico, the pearl of the Yungas.
Day 2 : Coroico - Irupana. The track in 4x4 makes a long crossing from the northern Yungas to the southern Yungas on the sides of valleys. Successions of small ascents and short descents in the Yungas. Coca fields, coffee trees and orchards are the main features of this trip. Lunch stop in Chulumani. Arrival at the end of the afternoon in the charming town of Irupana (6 hours).
Day 3 : Irupana - Tres Rios. You leave Irupana on a track that winds through green valleys. Cross the lost village of La Plazuela before starting a slow ascent to a pass located at almost 4 500 m of altitude, between the Mururata and the Illimani (6 hours). Bivouac in tents (or at the inhabitant's) near the village of Tres Rios.
Day 4 : Tres Rios - La Paz. Departure early in the morning for an Andean trek, of great beauty and almost unknown. Challenging hike to the foot of the Mururata glacier. Then return to La Paz.
