MAPAJO ECOTURISMO INDIGENA

Mosetene and Tsimane, Mapajo, Communautaire community tourist hostel is located 3 hours by boat from Rurrenabaque. The hostel was built by the Asuncion del Quiquibey community, with local materials and techniques. It consists of 4 cabins equipped with toilets and showers and a large cabin, which can accommodate up to 16 people. The typical restaurant, served in a buffet style, is prepared using local products.

Proposed activities. Trails for excursions as well as boat excursions allow you to discover local flora and fauna (parrots, crocodiles, tapirs, turtles…). The centre of rest and cultural interpretation allows to document the cultural and natural richness of the Bolivian Amazon (crafts, library).

Minimizing impact. The hostel has the sorting of waste.

Local population. The community, located 10 minutes'walk from the hostel's site, is the source of the initiative and gradually ensures the management of the company. All staff come from the Mosetenes-Tsimanes communities (6 communities in total). The aim of this project is to contribute to the preservation of a threatened culture and to the protection of the environment in a context of biodiversity unique in the world. Profits from tourist activity fund micro-projects of Community interests in the fields of health, education or social welfare.
