The goal of the Fonart shops is to promote the work of Mexican artisans, and has been since 1974. This government store offers a wide selection of quality handicrafts from all over the country. The pieces are generally expensive, but you can understand why when you see the work that went into making them: the fabrics and ceramics are true works of art. In the shop on Avenida Patriotismo, you can buy slightly damaged pieces at bargain prices.
