Everywhere in Mexico, to commemorate the wandering of Mary and Joseph, people celebrate and break piñatas full of sweets.

The posadas are celebrated in December. Supposedly, it is to commemorate the wandering of Mary and Joseph, who were looking for a shelter to spend the night. But the posadas in Mexico are mostly an occasion to celebrate and break piñatas, those paper mache objects filled with sweets. Posadas are celebrated all over Mexico, in private homes as well as in the streets. This is further proof that Mexicans have no equal when it comes to celebrating any event in an explosion of joy and colour!
