MUSEO EL CHOPO
Museum hosting expressions of underground cultures, blending performing arts, visual arts and literature
This is a beautiful Art Nouveau building, built at the beginning of the 20th century in the wake of European metal and glass constructions. Its appearance is more like a cathedral than a museum, which is what it was intended to be when it opened. After falling into disuse in the late 1960s, it was reborn as a museum in 1975. It is a space that aims to be contemporary, lively and moving, anchored in its neighbourhood by welcoming expressions of underground cultures, happily mixing performing arts, visual arts and literature.
