MUSEO ANAHUACALLI
Museum with some 2,000 pieces from the Teotihuacan, Olmec, Toltec, Nahua, Zapotec and northeast cultures
The Anahuacalli, or "house surrounded by water", is a pyramid designed by Diego Rivera. This energetic place is built of black volcanic stones. The museum presents some 2,000 pieces from the cultures of Teotihuacán, Olmecs, Toltecs, Nahuas, Zapotecs and the north-east of the country, a personal and courteous collection of the artist. Less visited than the "blue house", this museum is nevertheless worth a visit, both for the beauty of the archaeological pieces on display and to discover a less well-known aspect of the painter's life.
