This museum has a large collection of works by Mexican painters and artists, the result of the passion of the Yucatecan collector and physician to whom the place owes its name, who always insisted that his collection not be dispersed. The first work Carrillo Gil acquired was a drawing by the painter and caricaturist José Clemente Orozco, of which he later became the largest collector, before acquiring other works by Mexican painters of the 20th century.
