Museum in a fort in Jalpan that was once a prison, exhibiting the artistic and cultural heritage of the region.
Opened in 1991, this museum is housed in one of the oldest buildings in Jalpan: a fort built in 1576, which also served as a prison for 50 years. It contains a selection of the artistic and cultural heritage of the region, including a presentation of the missions as well as archaeological pieces, documents, photographs and old maps. The site features members of the Pames tribe, whose descendants survive today in the community of Tancoyol.
