Former convent built in 1576 that still preserves its temple, currently used as a public library in Patzcuaro.
This old convent was built in 1576, and it still preserves its temple which is currently used as a public library. The painted wall by Juan O'Gorman inside the library tells the story of the Tarasques, the Conquest and represents Don Vasco de Quiroga, the first bishop of Michoacán who had a great influence on the indigenous people. Next to it is the "Caltzonzin Theater", built on the remains of the monastery.
