MUSEO DE ARTES E INDUSTRIAS POPULARES
Museum dedicated to the arts and crafts practiced by the Indian peoples of the Purepecha region in Patzcuaro
A former stronghold of religious education and Spanish customs in the 16th century, the building we visit today has preserved only a few walls from that period. For more than 70 years, it has been dedicated to the arts and crafts practiced by the Indian peoples of the Purépecha region (fishing, agriculture, ceramics, stone and wood carving, violin making, textiles, etc.). The gardens still show the foundations of the pre-Hispanic buildings on which the building is constructed.
