TEMPLO DE SANTA PRISCA
Church of pink stones built between 1751 and 1758, a true marvel of the baroque art in Taxco.
Built between 1751 and 1758 with funds from the local hero José de la Borda, this pink stone church is a true marvel of Baroque art. Until 1806, it was the highest building in the country. Its facade is flanked by two Churrigueresque towers and its interior contains no less than nine gold-leafed altarpieces by the Spaniards Isidro Vicente and Luis Balbas, as well as a beautiful organ. The frescoes were painted by the Zapotec painter Miguel Cabrera, one of the most influential artists of New Spain.
