CASA DE DON BENITO JUAREZ
This is the house where the future president, then young boy, was employed as a domestic servant. It was in 1818 when landing from its native village, Guelatao, at 60 km to the north, Juárez spoke only a few words Spanish. His employer, Antonio Salanueva, a bookbinder and humanist, had a decisive role in his life: He helped him to perform studies during which Juárez abandoned his plans for a priesthood for a legal career. The museum tells us about the middle class living conditions at the beginning of the th century in Oaxaca. It also exhibits documents, including the correspondence of Juárez, and the President's mortuary mask. Temporary exhibitions.
