MUSEO DE ARTE PREHISPÁNICO DE MEXICO RUFINO TAMAYO
Museum that houses the private collection of pre-Columbian art of Oaxaca's most famous master
The private collection of pre-Columbian art of Oaxaca's best-known master contains more than a thousand works from all the civilizations of ancient Mexico. The painter Rufino Tamayo, a Mexican descendant of the Zapotecs, wished to bequeath his collection to the inhabitants of his native villa. The works have the advantage of being presented in a very beautiful house dating from the 18th century. The house was restored on the artist's instructions to provide five exhibition rooms.
