It is a favourite spot for surfers, with the wave known to be the third largest in the world, and one of the most dangerous. If you're not really experienced, trust the signs that say " playa peligrosa " (dangerous beach), and don't swim there. It hosts international tournaments between August and November. The Calle del Morro runs along the entire beach of Zicatela. There are many hotels, restaurants and shops. It is also the center of the nightlife of Puerto Escondido.
